Oh bother!

I need a new graphics card like .. well, badly. At least I think I do! I honestly have no idea. I’m guessing (with all of my infinite wisdom) that the card could be why my computer’s display is zig zagged and at times it shuts down all together. The computer doesn’t stop running and the monitor is fine. The screen will just go grayish black and then I am forced to restart (improperly) in order to get things working again. I’m just trying to work it out with the cheapest method possible because I have had this old dog for almost 7 years. The entire time I have been married! It’s my baby and though there are fancy new computers out there and even pretty pink laptops that I would die to have – I CAN’T DO IT!

So …. I ordered a new card. I went through the whole hassle of contacting Dell to find out which kind I needed. I bought the one I “needed” and it arrived this morning. Does it fit?! Hell no! It’s a PCI-E (whatever that means) and I need an AGP (again..whatever). GRRRR. The only thing I accomplished this morning was cleaning out my computer insides and let me tell ya – it needed it!! Forget about dust bunnies!! These were dust RABBITS! There was one ball of linty junk that was the size of my fist. I’m feeling a little suffocated from all of the dust I sucked into my lungs while blowing that crud out.

I’m hoping I can return the new card and try again. Wish me luck! I’ll get it right one of these days.
