It’s finally Friday!! I never looked forward to the end of the week so much as I do now that I have to to get a child ready for school every day. I am so happy once Saturday arrives and I can sit on my ass all day if I want. LOL Of course I never do. But still. The option of doing so is awesome!
I like having the freedom to do whatever I want whether it’s my coupon clipping (love deals on acne treatments) or just reading a book. Again, rarely does that happen, but still. ha!
Also, this weekend is special because it’s our anniversary tomorrow. 8 years of nagging each other! I can’t believe we’re hitting 8 years. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long .. and then again it seems like it’s been far longer at times.
… or at least that’s what it feels like.
The hubby is back from his last underway period for a bit and I am not without a vehicle during the day and bored out of my darn mind. And it’s only the first day. lol I wish we could afford the upkeep of a second vehicle but I just can’t justify the cost. Especially when I just spend more money out doing activities with the kids when I have a car anyway. So … yeah. Not having one is kind of like a savings plan in a way. Involuntary.
Of course now I am paying the price. Money is good, a whiny son is not. OMG! 4 year old boys and well just boys in general are not fun if you ask me. Maybe someday he’ll grow out of this. But for right now I just don’t feel like it’s ever going to happen. I’d rather read the phone book or think about how to lose belly fat or learn to knit or something rather than listen to his whining. Anything, no matter how ridiculously boring. ugh.
For so many years I have enjoyed the fact that the kids didn’t have a lot of friends. Mean, I know. But I just like that the only kids they played with were the ones I would take them to playdates to see. Now that Aubree is in school she’s making friends and one of those is in the same building as us. Oh the joy! I can’t say I enjoy having this little girl banging on the door all of the time. Again, I’m mean I suppose. I just hate it.
I don’t get how other parents let their kids run around the neighborhood like a wild heathen like that. This girl has no supervision so it’s always on me to be the parent. I never let my kids outside without me so when I’m out with them I end up hanging out with this little girl as well. Such a hassle. If I had wanted 3 kids I would have birthed 3. But yeah, I didn’t .. and I didn’t. ugh. I’ve thought about asking her mom if she could play at our place sometimes, just so I’m not stuck outside for hours with the kids, but then I rethought that. She’s a lot like Will and I can only imagine the chaos they would cause together. Uh, no way! Not unless I had some industrial safety supplies on hand. I have so much to deal with on a daily basis with the mess of 2 kids. I don’t think I’d want to add in another very often. And if I did it one day she’d be back every day wanting to play. I know it. *sighs*
As a mom of a new Kindergartner I am in full swing with the packing of snacks in her book bag daily as I am sure you are too. With school in session most moms are scrambling for healthy lunch and snack ideas. I’m excited to tell you that finding healthy alternatives to the usual routine has just got easier!
Safeway has recently partnered up with Warner Bros. to introduce a brand new line of food featuring Looney Tunes characters. The brand is called “Eating Right Kids” and features quite a few old favorites in healthier forms with kid appealing packaging that makes eating right fun. And isn’t that what all kids want? FUN!
These products are an extension of Safeway’s Eating Right line for adults. There are over 60 products available spanning 18 categories from breakfasts to drinks. These products have been formulated from the most recent dietary guidelines. If you ask me that’s awesome of a company to do this. So many cartoon characters are used to try and sell us and our kids junk. With childhood obesity on the rise this is just the ticket!
“The Warner Bros. Consumer Products partnership will allow us to extend the Eating Right brand to a line of products that will appeal to children, and at the same time give parents the comfort that these products are healthier choices,†said Mike Minasi, Safeway President, Marketing. “Integrating such well-recognized characters into our brand architecture will make the line more attractive to our target audience and augment the line’s success.â€

We received a super cute package containing apple juice, a granola bar, some fruit in a cup and a ravioli meal. What I loved most about the products that I received was that they actually tasted good! None of these products disappointed us. My very picky son grabbed the snack bar from me right away and consumed it within seconds. It had just enough milk chocolate coated along the bottom of the bar to make it quite appealing. My daughter has been asking daily if I have any more of the “Looney Tunes Juice”. Sadly, I have to tell her no. While I’d be willing to buy these products we lack a Safeway in this area so these samples will be all they are getting. That would be my only disappointment. But if you have a Safeway nearby, lucky you, check them out.
And boy oh boy was it a sad day for me. I cried when she got on the bus and I really cried when she didn’t get off the bus in the afternoon. Because they put her on the wrong bus .. and she was lost.
LIKE SERIOUSLY!
I sat on hold with the school for the longest time before someone finally came on the line and told me that they had located her and she was being brought back to the school. I just don’t know how you lose a little 5 yr old. They expected her to just figure out the bus thing herself when they promised that all the K students would be helped onto the bus. Not so.
Poor baby. Thankfully I was the most traumatized of all and she was ready to go back this morning. Wide eyed and excited. I think it’s the mass amount of crayons, books, other kids, desktop computers and of course PE time. Home just isn’t as fun as school. For now. I’m sure that will change once she’s actually forced to really work. lol
We had a lovely week of mild temperatures that did nothing but make me delighted to feel Fall on it’s way. Now? It’s warming up a bit again. blah! I hate the weather here. I wish I could find a nice place that stayed relatively cool year round. Not too hot, not too cold.
This is another reason why I am super excited to possibly go to MI next month. Our entire drive will be through states that should be in full color for Fall!! My dream come true. Cooler temps and beautiful leaves. I’ve been wanting to check into going on one of those Gatlinburg vacations you read about so much in travel mags in the fall but this will totally do for me. Plus I’ll get the chance to see family that I haven’t seen in over 4 years. Bonus!
My printer died the other day. It still “works” but it doesn’t actually print. So I gave it the boot and luckily found a great deal on printers through Dell. I bought the hubby and I each one for our computers and only spent $102 total. He has wanted a printer forever so I thought it would be nice to grant that wish.
I have ulterior motives though because now I can use his printer when I’m printing online coupons and get twice as many! woohoo! Thankfully his printer fit in nicely with his very small desk (seriously, it’s like a friggin tv stand) and I’m loaded with coupons now. I plan to go to Target later and score a bunch of nearly free items. It’s just a litttttttle sad that I get such a high from such a silly thing.
