Look who’s talking

I guess I better start searching for the best diet pills on the market because I seem to have fallen into the same habit as the hubby had this morning. He’s gone to work and I’ve found myself doing nothing but searching the cabinets. UGH! Must.find.something.to.do .. at least something that would keep me occupied enough to stay out of the bag of chips or bake sugar cookies because right now cookies are the only thing I can think of!

Cookies .. cookies .. cookies.

Lost

I just tore our entire storage closet apart in hopes of finding my long lost decorations. Last year I had a really cool light up spider web and a huge fuzzy spider that I hung on our patio. This year? The darn thing is no where to be found and I am so ticked off. It’s always MY stuff that ends up being misplaced around here. NOT FAIR! At this point I don’t think I will find it so I’m going to have to buy a new one or else I’ll really be peeved. I love Halloween and I love decorating for it. I’ll go through withdrawal without my goods plastered all over the outside of our place. Do you think they make rehab for people like me? They have drug rehab and alcohol rehab .. why not holiday decor-aholics rehab?

Bottomless Pit

My husband has been eating since I woke up. Every time I turn around he has something in his mouth. First it was a huge bowl of steel cut oats, literally an entire sauce pan (that he burned .. grr), then it was dove chocolates, and he finished off something the kids’ breakfast of peanut butter toast. I sent him to Sonic to buy some ice (I’m addicted to their ice) and he brought back a shake. Fine. He guzzled that down and now he’s working on a sandwich! I got up at 10am and it’s only 1:30pm. Tape worm anyone? WTH? If he’s going to do this every day I might as well have him at work. It’s cheaper on the grocery budget to only feed him at dinner time. lol

Loaded Up

Pass the weight loss pills! I bought groceries today! I even spied a certain someone while I was there loading my cart up with junk! Love that “small town” feel I get here in VA Beach. I have run into quite a few people that I know one way or another. Even family members of other bloggers that I actually don’t know, I just know what they look like because of photos posted on Flickr. It’s so weird and a bit stalker-ish at the same time! heh :)

I’m noticing that the shopping process really takes me so much longer now that I am dead set on my coupon clipping. I almost always save at least $25-$30 but dang .. it’s work!! It’s also a pain because every time I get a really good deal I find that someone else noticed that deal as well and everything has been picked clean. I had two buy one get one coupons for Febreze and of course someone else must have been saving the same ones because I had a hell of a time finding the bottles. I had to nearly climb the shelving to get the 4 bottles that I wanted. gah! The last time there were good coupons for Pizza Rolls the same thing happened. I found that section of the freezer case empty. It’s insane. But good for them! With the economy the way it is right now I think it’s fabulous that people are taking extra time to save a buck or 25!

A Day at the Farm

P9293226 copy I’m normally not one to post photos of my kids on the internet, at least publicly, but I’ll have to make an exception this time. They were so stinking cute today!!

We went to look at pumpkins and of course along with that we had to have some “farm time”. The farm we wanted to go to was closed so we went to our second choice and it actually wasn’t too bad. No crowds since it’s still early and lots of time to just wander without feeling like we were in anyone’s way. The kids fed the goats and sheep and we had a little time to interact with them as well. Will kept calling them giraffes! Why? I’m not too sure. lol But whatever.

They were so excited to eat! I mean, I know that’s what goats are all about, but still. They were adorable. :) Once the kids shook the bag of feed they went crazy, putting their heads through the fence and making their little noises.

We only bought a couple of small pumpkins this time as I’m sure we’ll head to the other farm this weekend when they are *hopefully* open. Then we’ll really go wild with our pumpkin picking. :) I think we carved 6 or 7 last year. I don’t think we’ll go to that extreme this year but we’ll see.

At least we got a few really good photos. We got to this farm every year and always take the same pictures. It’s really neat to look back over the last 3 years and see how much the kids have grown. Will was only a wee baby the first time we went and he stayed attached to me in a sling the entire time. Now he’s running around picking out his own pumpkins. Makes me all sappy and sad, ya know? :(

The rest of the photos are on Flickr, of course.

Financial Confusion

With all of this horrible news about our economy I’m torn as to what to do with some of our accounts. The ones that are paid off aren’t ever going to be used again so I’m thinking I should just close them. Not too many at once but definitely the store cards. Like our Dell account. I am done, done, done with financing anything computer related. I’m not going to shopping for so much as laptop memory let alone an entire computer anytime soon. So why keep it?

Hmmm .. will have to research some more. I don’t want to put our credit scores in the crapper with stupid decisions.

I do, but I don’t

I’m sitting here thinking of calling Grandma but .. ahhh.. I don’t want to. I do. But I don’t. I’ve had so much bad news lately that I am trying to avoid giving anyone a chance to give it to me. I’m just so scared that she’s either more ill than the last time I talked to her or that she’s maybe not even home and in the hospital instead. I’m hoping she’s fine though and I’ll likely find that out if I would just get off my ass and get over my fear to call her up. If all is well she should be preparing to have eye surgery tomorrow. From what she’s told me she may even be able to go without eyeglasses after these cataracts are fixed up. At least she would have ONE thing going for her health wise right now. sheesh.

Ok .. I gotta do it. Think good thoughts for me and cross your fingers that I don’t get any bad news.

A little bit of freedom

Finally! I’m set to have my days free to do whatever I please, at least until maybe December. My wonderful husband decided to volunteer for the evening shift again, even though it isn’t his favorite, because he knows it will make me a little more sane in the long run. I’m so ecstatic! I know I wasn’t asking for a lot or anything. No diamonds, horses or Wilmington NC real estate .. just the ability to be able to leave during the day and socialize a little. But still, I’m so thankful that he could see my point of view and “give in” to me. :)

For some reason I’m much happier when he leaves for work at 2pm and gets home around midnight. I like being able to wake up in the morning with him and even stay up later. When he’s on days he has to go to bed so early in order to be up at 4:30am. Then we’re so busy when in the evenings that we don’t spend time together anyway. We get so much more time to bond and enjoy each other when he’s here during the day time hours.

Worst Friend Ever

I realized today that I have only talked to my bestest friend maybe 4 times in the last 6 months. That is HORRIBLE. Especially since her husband is deployed and I really should have been more of a friend during that time. I suck. The last time she called I had to go within just a few minutes of answering because I was driving and about to head to the base. You can’t talk on your cell unless you’re sporting one of those spiffy Bluetooth headsets and since I don’t have one I was out of luck.

I’ll use this as a reminder that I need to call sometime this week. Hopefully it will actually REMIND me. That’s the worst thing about me besides being a crappy phone friend – I can’t remember anything.

Crafts, Chicken and Pee

Just the perfect combo, right? :)

We went to our playdate / craft swap (after I got totally lost) and we had fun. Not a lot of people there so it wasn’t too intimidating. I was the last to leave since Aubree has a deep attachment to .. just about anyone. She seriously wanted to stay forever and ever. We have some fun crafts to do later so I’m excited about that. It’s always fun to have something TO DO. lol

After that the kids wanted to go to the “chicken place” aka Chick-fil-a so I agreed and now wish that I hadn’t. It was BUSY, crowded and yuck. I tried a different location and could not believe how dirty it was. Not the normal Chick-fil-a service I am used to. Once I got the food and unloaded it onto the table Will pissed his pants. Like totally. No hiding it. So I had to pack everything back up and take them home to eat, and clean him up. ack! I hate doing those things by myself. If hubby had been there I could have taken him to the van, changed him and went back without disturbing Aubree’s lunch or fun time. But by myself? Not happening. There’s no way to manage. At least not for me and my anxiety ridden self. heh

Now I’m sitting here waiting for 4pm to come so I can head back to the hangar and pick up the man. I may even stop at Walgreens and buy him a lovely Hallmark card a candy bar or something on the way if I can muster the motivation. I can’t really afford anything else as an anniversary gift. It’s funny that this time last year I was making over $1000 a month blogging. Blogging! This month? You don’t even want to know. heh Maybe enough to buy that card/candy bar. ;)
