Today has been one of those perfect days. Seriously.. just amazingly calm, positive, and enjoyable. Not that every day isn’t enjoyable, because let’s face it, any day above ground is something to be happy about. But today was just THAT much better than others. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that it was payday, and we also got the hubby’s yearly bonus payment so it was like getting two paychecks at once. Score! Our bank account doesn’t see that type of action often. It makes me almost want to take a screencap of the balance so I can remember it later, after it’s been handed out to everyone.
Sadly much of that will go towards needs. New tires for the truck, paying ahead on bills, and a couple of requests from the hubs for himself like expensive running shoes and a new gym bag. He’s a simple man.
I can’t very well tell him no .. lol After all, it’s his sacrifice that earns that extra cash (and almost all of the money in our household). Plus I caught a glimpse of his old ones and OMG!! I would be beyond embarrassed to be running in those day in and day out. Nasty, stinky, and .. just .. eww. We’ll be burning them in a private ceremony later this week.
So anyway, the weather was also PERFECT! Breezy with temps in the high 60′s low 70′s so we went to the park and the kids had a ton of fun. We haven’t been to the park in awhile, mainly because we’re lazy, and we hate the park. Ok, that sounds terrible, but the hubby and I are just NOT park people. I get bored. I love to swing and my kids hate it. They’re afraid of the swings and would prefer the slides. Funny because I was afraid of slides when I was a kid. I always end up standing around, praying that they’ll want to leave and go shopping or something. lol Along with that, I also hate always being on edge .. “where’s Aubree .. where’d Will go …OMG they’re going to break their necks when they fall off the monkey bars!!” and I happen to be one of those spazztastic mommies who is always following my kids around, sure that someone is just waiting in the bushes to steal them. I can’t help it. I love them so much that I just assume everyone else does too and they’re secretly plotting to take them. I think I’ve been watching too much Dateline. I see other parents there who don’t pay a lick of attention to their kids. They sit and smoke, or talk on their cell phones. I don’t get it. I can’t take my eyes off of them without that rush of anxiety falling over me.
After the park we headed to Dairy Queen at Aubree’s request. She wanted a “cream cone with spwinkles”. That ended up being a lot of fun as well. I finally let them sit on the benches outside and eat instead of in the car. It’s located in a busy area, right in the middle of stores and restaurants so I’m always afraid Will will run out in front of a car or something. Yes, again, that be me and my spazzy nature. We all got kid sized cones. Well, Will and I split one as I just like to take a bite or two and he’s too little to handle his own in my opinion. He was such a good boy and didn’t attempt to get up and run around until right before we had finished up. Aubree was especially tickled about having her very own cone. My gosh. The girl won’t eat for days but give her an ice cream and she is so into it. Figures.
Then we came home, and it was nap time .. yada.. yada. I won’t go on and bore you too much.
The rest of my evening went sour when I attempted to make a run to the grocery store and nearly didn’t make it back alive. I won’t even mention how much the people in this area annoy me with their driving .. err.. skills? I don’t even think that is the word for it. They have a very unique way of navigating that is centered all on them as if nobody else could possibly exist on the roadways.  Oh .. wait, I guess I mentioned it after all. Sorry! heh But yeah.. big GRRR to them. I won’t blame all VA drivers because that would be far from true. It’s just a select bunch that I seem to run into.. daily.
If you love LOLcats and post secret, you’ll really love LOLsecretz! I’m probably incredibly immature, but I had to stop myself after reading a few of them. I was laughing way too hard – I couldn’t breathe. lol
I have to say that even days later I am quite surprised with my hubby’s efforts to be romantic and show me some love on our anniversary. I’m almost in shock still! While I had hoped and dreamed, I didn’t expect to get anything sparkling and expensive. I actually expected a half dead bouquet of flowers from the grocery store – and while he did bring those home as well, he did good otherwise.
In the past we’ve read up on our languages of love and mine just happen to be acts of service and gifts. Those things are what really speak to me. It’s a good thing that I don’t really get into the really hardcore sentimental romance stuff that some women love. I appreciate it, but it’s not ever expected from him and for good reason too. The poor guy wouldn’t be able to write me poetry or sweet nothings unless he had a sample love letter to use as a “cheat sheet”. lol But that is totally fine with me! After 6 years I am really falling into that comfort zone and just rolling with it. I can’t wait to see what the next 6 years and life beyond that have in store for us.

So, she may be sort of .. crazy, but her single is doing pretty well now that it’s officially out. I’ll admit it .. I bought it and I kept iTunes open all day yesterday to see how high it would climb. I’m so excited to listen to the rest of the album when it’s released in November.
You may or may not like her, but you can’t tell me that the single doesn’t make you want to shake your booty. I’m putting it on my “cleaning” play list that I use when I’m really needing motivation to get everything done around here. Booty shaking goes very well with vacuuming, you know? lol
Ever since we bought the kids moon sand a few months ago they insist on calling ALL sand “moon sand”. It’s kind of funny. I guess that means that they liked it and I may have to buy them some more at some point. It’s really a lot of fun because it doesn’t dry out, it doesn’t stick to things the way traditional play dough does, and it didn’t get gobbed up in our carpeting either. My only complaint would be that I think I bought it a bit too early for them. They made quite a mess with it and just played in it instead of really building anything. Most of it is now thrown out or being swept up daily in the vacuum. I have more than enough dirt to clean up from day to day, I certainly don’t need to BUY it.
But maybe by Christmas they will be ready to have a new supply?
If you have kids and have never tried moon sand, do it! It makes a great gift and like I mentioned, it’s not as messy as most arts & craft projects out there.

Ok, so where is Fall?! I know that it is “technically” here and all, but I’m not feeling it. In fact, I have been hiding indoors with the A/C cranked down to about 60, wearing sweaters and burning my spicy apple scented candles just to make myself believe that it is indeed almost October.
I just want to wear my sweaters outdoors, and bust out my fall accessories. Maybe sip some HOT coffee instead of iced. You know? I’m not asking for much here. But it looks as if I won’t be getting that anytime soon. The forecast next week is calling for 80′s .. ALL WEEK.
Yesterday we heard tons of sirens running through our complex, and I am assuming it must have been more than just a call for the ambulance as they had TWO firetrucks as well as a variety of other emergency vehicles. Scary stuff! I’m not sure how much was damaged but hopefully the folks living there had house insurance! The last time we had an incident, they sent out a flyer to remind us to get insured if we are not because the victims of that fire were NOT and they ended up being responsible for over $10,000 worth of damage. That is just unbelievable if you ask me and totally irresponsible. Buying an insurance policy is the first thing I do when moving into a new place. There’s just no reason not to.

Apparently my bout with the bad vibes yesterday transferred to the kids today. Oh my gosh, I am going nuts here with the whining and general moody behavior that they are punishing me with. I keep a little stash of bribery candy around for times like these and I think I may have to bust those out and buy myself some quiet before the little hair that I have left falls out. lol Yes, call me a bad mommy, whatever. You know you would be doing the same if you were feeling as nutty as I am today.
Nap time will come soon enough though and then .. smooooth sailing!
It’s also FRIDAY!! I think I may run out later and do something fun, for myself. Possibly mani/pedi time?
What do you think about marketers obtaining demographic data to strategically market their products and services? I don’t know how I really feel about it. I think it’s probably a huge plus though. I mean if I am going to have junk mail or other services being thrown at me, I want them to at least be somewhat related to my age and interests. You know? I don’t even write paid posts here that I don’t think ANY of my friends would find interesting or useful in some way.
I was checking out this site, CDYNE.com and used their demographic data lookup service for my address – it was actually interesting to see the information listed. The average age is around 30, 50/50 male/female ratio and the average income is only around $40,000. I guess we’re all poor! lol
It’s not even 11am and I have nearly everything done that I could possibly need to do today!! I’m so excited. That means my afternoon will be totally to myself, after the kids are down for naps, of course.
During my cleaning spree this morning I fell in love with those Pledge multi-surface wipes. OMG! They are so handy and they work so well. I dusted everything from wood, to electronics to even glass and nothing is streaky and linty at all. I’m so going to buy myself an entire case of those!
